Kid Friendly Rubrics
This summer, I’m blessed to be working with some talented, creative kids. Channeling that talent while they also work on reading, writing, and spelling is not easy. It’s easy to fall into the habit of over functioning while the kids sit back and take a passive role. That’s why one of the most important skills our kids need today is the ability to reflect on their own learning and thinking.
I used Design Thinking for Education, to observe my users’ needs. Some of my students were crazy about Minecraft. I found some Minecraft themed materials on Teachers Pay Teachers, and then created my own kid friendly rubrics for self reflection and writing.
These are my first prototypes. After I try them out, I’ll have to update the rubrics. I hope I will have at least one of the students work on them and create the next versions.
